SFMTA Brings PayByPhone
to SF Parking Meters
SFpark is taking their technology to another level by partnering with PayByPhone, a service that allows people to pay their meter fee by telephone or smartphone. SFMTA rolled out Pay by Phone in the Castro in December, with plans to expand the program to all meters city-wide in the next coming months.
The new program allows people to pay by credit card by dialing a toll-free number or through the PayByPhone app. Both methods allows users to pay their fare by phone, add additional time, and view receipts. It gets even better: they’ll even text you when your meter is almost out of time!
Just look out for the PayByPhone stickers (designed by yours truly) attached to meters using the service. Bonus tip: Android users and any NFC-enabled device can also tap the meter to immediately access the payment system. The SFpark‘s collaboration with PayByPhone marks the largest deployment of NFC technology in the U.S.
Customers can call 866-490-7275 or download the app here.
